NAB registers criminal case to check public statement of economy minister

Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau on Wednesday started checking the facts presented by Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius regarding the possible interference of First Deputy Head of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc Ihor Kononenko and other MPs into the work of the ministry.

"Information was placed to the register of pretrial investigations with the preliminary qualification of crime under Article 364 (Part 2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or office)," NAB said in a report posted on its website on Wednesday.

The bureau said that Abromavicius as a witness will be soon invited to the NAB to give evidences that he delivered at a press conference.

"NAB will thoroughly check the facts and will conduct all the required investigation steps to establish the truth as soon as possible," the bureau said.
