Ukrainian military report militant shelling and attack on checkpoint

Militants have continued to fire at positions of the Ukrainian army in all directions over the past 24 hours, and have attempted to attack a Ukrainian checkpoint, resulting in an armed clash, the press center of the Kyiv authorities' operation in Donbas reported.

The armed clash erupted at around 6:00 p.m. on Monday when about a dozen militants attacked a checkpoint of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village of Zaitseve and subsequently retreated, the press center said in a report posted on its Facebook account on Tuesday.

Furthermore, according to the press center, militants also fired grenade launchers, large-caliber submachine guns and small arms at the Ukrainian army's positions near the localities of Pisky, Avdiyivka, Novhorodske and Novoselivka in Donetsk region. The village of Krasnohorivka came under 82mm mortar fire more than once.

Militants also shelled the Ukrainian army's positions in Mayorsk, Zaitseve, Kyrove and Luhanske near the city of Artemivsk. Ukrainian military positions in Leninske and Luhanske came under 82mm mortar fire.

Militants used large-caliber submachine guns and small arms against Ukrainian military positions in Starohanivka, located near the city of Mariupol.

Grenade launchers were fired at the Ukrainian army's positions in Triokhizbenka in Luhansk region.
