Dozen Russian tanks close to border between Crimea, mainland Ukraine – Interior Ministry
About a dozen Russian tanks have come close to the contact line between Crimea and mainland Ukraine and the Ukrainian Internal Affairs Ministry has intensified its patrols in Kherson region, head of the Interior Ministry's anti-drug department Illia Kiva has said. The Interior Ministry intensified its patrolling as after an explosion and the fall of the pylons transmitting electricity to Crimea on Sunday evening, Russian troops came close to the contact line, bringing Grad multiple rocket launchers with them, Kiva said on the '112 Ukraine' TV channel. As reported, in the morning of November 20, unidentified persons blew up two transmission pylons supplying electricity from Kherson region's Henichesk and Chaplynsky districts to Crimea. An investigation has been launched into the incident. The police and Kherson battalion personnel have fenced off the dangerous areas around the site. In the morning of November 21, members of the Right Sector voluntary corps and members of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, as well as civil activists, put the damaged transmission pylons of the power line leading to Crimea under guard in order to prevent repairs. After a standoff with law-enforcers, the activists moved away and allowed repair works to begin Late on Saturday, Kiva said that the repairs of the damaged high-voltage lines in the area of Chaplynka were completed. In the early hours of November 22, the damaged pylons of the high-voltage transmission line supplying electricity to Crimea were blown up again.
