Militants in ATO zone still violate Minsk agreements on withdrawing artillery of caliber less than 100 mm

Militants were continuing to violate the Minsk agreements on withdrawing weapons smaller than 100 mm in caliber, Ukrainian presidential spokesman for the military operation Andriy Lysenko said at a news briefing in Kyiv on Saturday.

In particular, he said that the militants used large-caliber machineguns and grenade launchers near the community of Novotoshkivske in the Luhansk sector. The militants also violated the ceasefire near Novhorodske and Verkhniotoretske in the Donetsk sector. Tensions have also grown near the Donetsk airport, particularly near the settlements of Pisky and Avdiyivka, he said.

"The militants opened fire using small arms and grenade launchers and "twice used 82 mm mortars upon our positions not far from Maryinka and Krasnohorivka," Lysenko said.

"The fire was not targeted, and therefore the mines didn't reach our positions and didn't pose a threat to the servicemen's lives," he said.

Militants units deployed near Dokuchayivsk south of Donetsk opened untargeted fire upon government forces near Berezova, he said.
