Search-and-rescue operation on Russian plane crash site in Egypt to end on Monday evening

A search-and-rescue operation on the site of the Russian A321 airplane crash in Egypt is due to end on Monday evening, Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov has said.

"We plan to complete a search-and-rescue operation in the emergency zone before 10 p.m. local time today. Specialists of technical services of the Interstate Aviation Committee will continue their routine work in order to execute every procedure," Puchkov, who is currently visiting Egypt, said at an operative staff meeting on Monday.

The A321 airliner of Kogalymavia en route from Sharm-el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg crashed near the town of el-Arish in the north of the Sinai Peninsula on Saturday morning. The crash killed all 224 people onboard.

European media reported with reference to Egyptian authorities that some 214 Russians and three Ukrainian passengers were on board the plane.
