Opposition Bloc says local authorities in Odesa faking election results

KYIV. Oct 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Opposition Bloc Party claims that the results of local elections in Odesa have been faked by municipal and regional authorities, according to MP, leader of the Opposition Bloc's Odesa organization Mykola Skoryk.

"I'd like to ask both the mayor of Odesa and Odesa regional governor. We're seeing a typical election-related rigged game, when the authorities represented by the mayor and the governor have agreed what elections results should look like. And now – it is a very important moment. They should reckon up the voting results in the city of Odesa. Polling results in the entire our city are being fake at the moment," the party's press service quoted Skoryk as saying.

"I'd like to ask members of the election commissions who are facing requests to do this – no messages, no commands from above can replace law, and one should be liable for every unlawful action, which will eventually end with imprisonment," he said.

In his words, Odesa "is in the lead ahead of the entire Ukraine in terms of pre-election and election creativity from the very negative side."

"The thing is that the Opposition Bloc has been winning at the election to the regional council and is in the lead in the entire region and in particular in the city of Odesa. The authorities started using an exit poll as a tool to exert pressure on the election process in addition to usual elements commonly used across Ukraine, namely vote buying and 'merry-go-round voting' (bussing voters from one polling station to another polling station for repeat voting). This is the exit poll, which says that the Opposition Bloc allegedly ranks third in the city of Odesa," he said.
