Russian troops in Syria threatens global security system, intl community must respond – Yatseniuk

The decision of the Russia Federation Council to allow Russian troops to be sent to Syria is a step towards the destruction of the global security system, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

"I think that after UN General Assembly, after its 70th session, the adoption of such a decision by the Russian Federation is another step towards destabilizing the global situation, towards increasing tensions in the world, towards continuing military conflict, and Russia bears personal responsibility for that," he said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

Yatseniuk said that granting the right to the Russian president to send his troops to any country in the world is a step towards destroying the global security system.

"It is unacceptable, and the response of the international community shouldn't be delayed," he said.

Meanwhile, Yatseniuk said that Russian troops were being sent to Ukraine without the public approval of the Federation Council, and they have been deployed for a long time in Crimea, as well as in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
