President's Commissioner for Rights of Disabled, NATO mission agree on rehabilitation of ATO soldiers

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the President's Commissioner for the Rights of the Disabled Valeriy Sushkevych discussed issues affecting disabled persons and issues related to the rehabilitation of Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) participants before the Ukraine's report in the UN.

"Today, these are people [ATO participants] that first of all need attention, help and psychological rehabilitation, which will allow for adaptation and normal integration. The state must always face the people," the press service of the president quoted him as saying on Saturday.

According to him, it's important that the issues of prosthetics and psychological rehabilitation are solved.

In turn, Sushkevych reported on the results of his work to the president. He managed to preserve public transport benefits for the disabled and solve the issue of how NGOs helping the disabled are funded.

Sushkevych drew attention to the issues affecting prosthetics, particularly the threat of help for the disabled being stopped due to the corruption. However, he said he and the Social Policy Minister managed to solve the issue.

Also, the rehabilitation of ATO participants was discussed at a meeting with NATO mission's to Ukraine and certain agreements were reached, the press service reported.
