Yatseniuk orders implementation of action plan on liberalization of EU-Ukraine visa regime to be accelerated

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk on Friday held a meeting on the issue of implementation of the action plan on liberalization of the visa regime with the EU and urged for the implementation to be speeded up.

"Yatseniuk pointed out the necessity of accelerating the corresponding work. The head of the government gave clear instructions on time-specific priorities of work both for the executive government and in cooperation with the parliament (…) the preparation for a visit of another mission of European partners to Ukraine in September was discussed with particular attention," the press service of the government reported.

Yatseniuk listened to reports by Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov on the state of work and implementation of tasks defined in cooperation with the European partners of Ukraine.

"First of all the Cabinet discussed the simplification of service provided to Ukraine citizens. The task is to provide the best opportunities for people: both for trips to the EU and protection of citizens and their possibilities in a country," the report said.

In addition, documents security, integrated management of the border, the battle again organized crime and corruption was discussed at the meeting. The meeting also pointed out the positive assessment of Ukraine's efforts on the visa liberalization action plan in the fifth report of the European Commission.
