Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly has promised to work on the organization of the visit of U.S. President Barack Obama to Ukraine and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to the U.S.

"The visit [of Obama to Ukraine] is an important thing. It is clear that I will be working on this, I will be working to make that possible, and also [ensure] the possibility of the U.S. president coming here, to Ukraine," Chaly said on Channel 5 on Tuesday night.

At the same time, the fact that the U.S. president hasn't visited Ukraine yet doesn't mean that Ukraine is a matter of secondary importance for the U.S. external policy, Chaly said. He explained that the level of contacts between U.S. President Barack Obama and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was unprecedented.

He said that cooperation between Ukraine and the United States had also entered a very different qualitative level. "These are trust and cooperation," he said.

Though Ukraine takes its decisions independently, it also heeds the advice of its partners, including the United States, the ambassador said.
