OSCE head wants to speed up achievement of agreements within Minsk group

OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Serbia's Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic sees the role of his participation in an upcoming meeting of the trilateral Contact Group for Ukraine as giving an impetus to this negotiating process.

"I want to stimulate at least the achievement of minor agreements in order to be able to finally, at some point, secure a major step forward in moving the Ukrainian conflict from a military path to the path of political talks," Dacic told reporters in Minsk on Tuesday.

Dacic said he was pinning his hopes on the negotiators' meetings in Minsk in terms of securing a solution to the Ukrainian conflict.

"I welcome the talks in Minsk, and I have come here to support the work of the Contact Group - the people who have the power to resolve issues linked with the settlement of this conflict," he said.

"Minsk has become a synonym for a peaceful settlement of the crisis in Ukraine," he said. It was reported that the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's chairperson-in-office had arrived in the Belarusian capital Minsk to attend a session of the trilateral Contact Group for Ukraine.
