Ex-Kyiv police chief Oleksandr Tereschuk reinstated

Police major-general Oleksandr Tereschuk, who was dismissed as chief of the Main Police Directorate of Interior Ministry of Ukraine in Kyiv in early June, has been reinstated to his former position.

"…I personally inform you that Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov signed a decree, under which I, again, was appointed as chief of the Main Police Directorate of Ukrainian Interior Ministry in Kyiv city," he wrote on Facebook in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

From June to November 2012, Tereschuk was chief of the department on combating drug trafficking at the Ukrainian Interior Ministry.

From November 2012 till July 2014, he led the ministry's police office in Volyn region.

From July 2014 until June 2015, he headed Kyiv city police office.

On July 3, the presidential website posted a decree which stated that lustration measures would not be applied against Tereschuk.

On the Kyiv police website, Tereschuk is named as chief of Interior Ministry's Main Police Directorate in Kyiv city.
