Two residents of Stanytsia Luhanska suffer shrapnel wounds - Governor Moskal press service

Two locals were injured in the explosions of a mine and an unknown explosive device in the area of Stanytsia Luhanska, the press service of Luhansk Regional Military Civilian Administration head Hennadiy Moskal has reported.

"An antipersonnel mine laid by unknown persons exploded in the afternoon of June 25 in the vicinity of Stanytsia Luhanska, in the Kryva area where locals graze their cattle. A 74-year-old woman suffered severe injuries, and her cow stepped on the mine and was killed. The injured woman was taken to the district hospital; doctors are trying to save her," the report said.

A similar incident happened in the village of Shyroke in the Stanytsia Luhanska district in the evening. A young couple taking a walk on the village outskirts found a package and took it home. The opening of the package triggered an explosion, and the 29-year-old man suffered shrapnel wounds of his hands. By miracle, his female companion was not hurt. The man was hospitalized; the injuries are not serious and there is no threat to his life, the report said.

The press service reported that Stanytsia Luhanska twice came under attack of mortars and small arms, including grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns, early on Friday morning. The first attack began at 9 p.m. and ended at midnight, and the second lasted from 3 a.m. till 5 a.m. According to tentative reports, there were no casualties.
