The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified the implementation agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) on the reburial of radioactive waste, which was signed as the result of the implementation of military programs of the former Soviet Union in Ukraine.

A total of 272 MPs voted for relevant bill No. 0027 on Wednesday.

The agreement was signed in Brussels on September 18, 2013.

The aim of the project is the rehabilitation of territories which are used to store radioactive waste.

The agreement also regulates the issues related to the agencies responsible for the development and implementation of the agreement, project management, financial costs management, taxation issues etc. The facilities from which radioactive waste will be removed are to be determined by agreement of the parties.
