SBU probes ex-deputy prosecutor general for taking bribes from fire-affected BRSM-Nafta – SBU chief

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has opened a criminal case against former deputy prosecutor general for accepting bribes from the leadership of BRSM-Nafta in the village of Kriachky of Vasylkivsky district, Kyiv region.

"Corruption has already affected setting an ecology disaster – Vasylkivsky district, oil depot. Why was it ablaze? Because the owners permitted ex-minister Stavytsky and all others run a protection [racket], and received illegal incomes. One is the former deputy prosecutor general. Today the SBU registered a criminal proceeding and we intend to work, and nobody should stop us," SBU chief Valentyn Nalyvaichenko said during a roundtable talk on fighting corruption entitled "Corruption as a Threat to National Security," which was held in Kyiv on Friday.
