New patrol police units, which will start its work across Ukraine in late June-early July, will receive cars with environmentally friendly engines from Japan as a part of Kyoto protocol, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.

"Namely today we almost finish a unique project, which is implemented by Japanese party as a part of green investment project," the president said during the ceremony of passing the automobiles in Kyiv on Saturday, with the participation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

He said these cars won't just improve conditions of the police service, but also will reduce fuel consumption, will save money and will improve ecological situation in the cities, where they would be used.

"Cars that Japan passes to [Ukrainian] Interior Ministry, will be transferred to a new reshaped national police, patrol service units, which should be a symbol of zero tolerance to corruption and will be used throughout our state," said Poroshenko.

Poroshenko believes that these vehicles can be a symbol of a new honest police.

In turn, prime minister of Japan said these cars would be a serious contribution to the reforming of the Ukrainian police.
