Ukraine has placed five-year U.S.-backed eurobonds worth $1 billion at 1.847% per annum, the Finance Ministry has announced on its website.

The ministry said that the securities were issued with a nominal value of $200,000 and a coupon of 1.847% per annum (the coupon for the new securities will be paid on November 29 and May 29).

The press service of the ministry told Interfax-Ukraine that the subscription for the purchase of the securities is 100% of their nominal value.

The ministry said that the eurobonds were issued as part of strengthened international aid to restore Ukraine's economic growth in 2016. Their placement, along with recent EU macro-financial support will allow the existing sovereign debt to be replaced with cheaper liabilities.

As reported, Ukraine on May 27 placed $1 billion in five-year U.S.-backed eurobonds at a yield of 32 basis points over U.S. Treasuries. The organizers are Citigroup, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley.

Ukraine placed a first issue of loan notes worth $1 billion secured by the United States in May 2014. Their yield exceeded the yield of U.S. federal loan notes due on April 30, 2019 by 28 basis points, being 1.844% per annum. JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley organized the deal.
