Poroshenko points out successful cooperation between Ukraine, Slovakia in energy

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia in the energy sector has been a success and has provided for the energy security of the European Union and Ukraine by removing the monopoly of Russia's Gazprom.

"We paid special attention to cooperation, our coordination of actions and energy security. Today I can say that Ukraine's cooperation with Slovakia in the energy sector, first in the provision of gas supplies, can be named as absolute success," Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with Slovak President Andrej Kiska in Kyiv on Wednesday.

"Our cooperation provided for the energy security of Europe, our cooperation provided gas to Ukraine, and [for the] first [time in] over 23 years cooperation between Ukraine and Slovakia jointly with other partners stopped the monopoly of Gazprom and transferred the tools of Gazprom, as tools of political pressure, to the ordinary economic and market format," Poroshenko said.
