The European Union will honor its obligations to help Ukraine and Ukrainians, European Commission spokesperson Mina Andreeva said in connection with Kyiv's decision to freeze its foreign debt payments.

The spokesperson told a briefing in Brussels on Wednesday that it had been stated at the recent EU-Ukraine summit and the European Commission has no more specific reaction.

Andreeva said the European Commission is working on supporting the Ukrainians and the Ukrainian economy.

Andreeva said the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga will be a good reason to discuss this issue.
