At present, Ukraine has to rely on its own resources in providing military equipment and weapons for its military needs, because there is no tangible progress in the military and technical cooperation with strategic partners, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

"Today, while renewing the military potential of the country, we have to rely solely on our own forces. The military and industrial complex is the driving force of our economy, and the organization of the operation of all defense industry enterprises currently provides our armed forces and the National Guard with the needed weapons and equipment," the official website of the NSDC quoted Turchynov as saying to the journalists after visiting Zhytomyr Armor Repair Plant on Wednesday.

At the moment, domestic manufacturers provide for the Ukrainian army's basic needs of military equipment and weapons today. "These [defense industry] enterprises today are ensuring combat capability of our armed forces," the NSDC secretary said.

According to Turchynov, Zhytomyr Armor Repair Plant is now operating at full capacity. It produces infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers and repairs the military equipment damaged at the front. The plant has also started manufacturing weapon stations installed on different models of combat vehicles.
