Ukraine is ready to ensure the demilitarization of Shyrokyne, Donetsk region, on the condition of full observance of ceasefire for the duration of a set period of time, the press center for the Ukrainian military operation reported on Friday.

The source said representatives of Ukraine in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) determined additional events to fully cease fire on the problem sections of the division line in the area of Shyrokyne and the adjacent regions during a recent working visit to Shyrokyne.

"Issues relating to the demilitarization of the territory of the said populated area and the deployment in it of a permanent observation point staffed by representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) were also addressed," the press center said in a report.

During the trilateral meeting, Alexander Hug, deputy head of the OSCE SMM, was given the main provisions of the proposals made by the Ukrainian part of the JCCC concerning the demilitarization of Shyrokyne.

"The meeting participants pointed out Ukraine's readiness to ensure the demilitarization of the appropriate area on condition of full ceasefire in the course of a specific period of time. Among other things, this will help deploy a permanent observation point," the press center said.

The source also said the meeting had addressed the proposals made by the Ukrainian part of the JCCC on the installation in this populated area of web cameras, which would enable the OSCE SMM to monitor ceasefire observance more effectively.
