The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has ratified a protocol on the TUR border marker, which is installed to indicate the tripoint between the state borders of Ukraine, Romania and Hungary.

A total of 286 MPs voted for the law on the ratification of protocol No. 0008 on Wednesday.

The protocol was signed in Budapest on October 17, 2012, according to an explanatory note to the law.

According to the note, in 2007 the Ukrainian-Hungarian border commission and the Ukrainian-Romanian border commission inspected the border line between Ukraine and Hungary. They discovered caving on the bank of the Tur River near the TUR border marker, which was installed to indicate the tripoint between the state borders of Ukraine, Romania and Hungary. As a result, the border marker had to be moved to another safer place. After it was moved, a relevant protocol was prepared and signed in Budapest on October 17, 2012.

Article 1 of the protocol states that: "The TUR border market consists of three concrete posts, one of which is installed in the territory of Ukraine, the second one in the territory of Romania, and the third in the territory of Hungary. The point located at the intersection of the median line of the old dried riverbed of the Tur River and the median line of the Tur River is the junction of state borders. "
