Ukraine urges OSCE to provide more drones to monitor Donbas

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Special Monitoring Mission is working to have the stock of drones increased in Ukraine to observe the situation in eastern regions, said Ukraine's permanent envoy to international organizations Ihor Prokopchuk.

"There were four drones in all, two of which were damaged. The OSCE Secretariat has signed an agreement with Schiebel to continue using Schiebel drones. The drone market is being explored to draw additional opportunities," Prokopchuk told the press club in Kyiv on Friday.

Director of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's political department Oleksiy Makeyev said that since the drone's flight zone is limited Ukraine has urged the OSCE to provide more drones. "Why did we do that? Because Ukraine gives the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission complete freedom of movement. Unfortunately, Russians and individual districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions do not give the monitors an opportunity to observe how and where weapons are being pulled out," Makeyev said.
