United States House Committee on Armed Services Chairman William Thornberry does not rule out a fresh round of anti-Russian sanctions if violations of the Minsk agreements persist.

He said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday that stricter sanctions against Russia were being discussed and should be coordinated with European partners for greater effectiveness. He said the Congress might propose to step up the sanctions with the consent of the European Union. If the violations of the Minsk agreements continue, both the United States and the European Union may impose new limitations on Russia, the congressman said.
