Saakashvili says U.S. is almost ready to send arms to Ukraine

A decision by the U.S. Government on sending armaments to Ukraine is almost 99% ready, according to the former President of Georgia, and current advisor to the Ukrainian President, Mikhail Saakashvili.

"America is a democratic country, for this reason it is very important that Ukraine's sound request to receive weapons is publicly heard in Congress and the Senate next week. This will be broadcast throughout the mass media of the United States. When [Ukrainian] President Poroshenko said this in Congress during his triumphant speech in September 2014, for many it was a bolt from the blue, and many didn't even want to hear about it. Now, in fact, this decision is ready by 99%. I don't know when the last, the most significant percentage comes, I hope very soon since Ukraine doesn't have so much time," he said on Channel Five on Sunday evening.

According to him, Ukraine receiving defensive weapons "is a powerful signal for saving thousands and thousands of human lives."
