Project office for reforms to be set up in Ukraine - agreement with EBRD

Ukraine will set up a project office for reforms, whose mission will be to help the government and parliament carry out necessary reforms in the country.

The relevant agreement was signed by EBRD Director for Ukraine Sevki Acuner, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius, deputy head of the presidential administration Dmitry Shymkiv, and head of the parliamentary committee on foreign affairs Hanna Hopko.

"The main goal of the project office is assistance in the development, coordination and monitoring of reforms – these are the three key issues," Shymkiv said.

According to him, 120 candidates filed applications for the post of head of the project office and the shortlist of candidates will be announced next week.

Shymkiv added that funding would amount to EUR1.080 million and that after the first year the decision on continuing funding would be made.

The deputy head of the presidential administration also noted that the priority reforms which will be discussed at the National Council of Reforms are the fight against corruption, judicial reform, deregulation, the reform of state property management and civil service reform.
