Unofficial delegation from Turkey to inspect situation with Crimean Tatars on peninsula - Foreign Minister

Turkey plans to send an unofficial delegation to Crimea to inspect the situation with the Crimean Tatars, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said.

"We consider sending an unofficial delegation to Crimea to see how the locals live," he said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Kyiv on Monday.

He said that Turkey had repeatedly stated that it does not support Russia's annexation of Crimea, but "people should not suffer because of this."

Cavusoglu said that in the Crimean question the Turkish authorities intended to work with the Kyiv authorities, "using their tips." He said that Turkey was constantly considering providing assistance to the Crimean Tatars, using the capabilities of the Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency and Turkey's Department of Religious Affairs.
