Samopomich not in coalition talks – Sadovy

Samopomich Union is currently not in talks on the creation of a parliamentary coalition, the leader of the party, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy, has said.

"Samopomich has not currently entered into any formal coalition talks. At the same time, we realize that Ukrainians gave a vote of confidence to a number of pro-Ukrainian pro-European parties, which should jointly seek common ground to address urgent issues in the state," he wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

He said that Samopomich would discuss possible alliances in parliament based solely on the tasks that should face a future government.

"We are not interested in quotas! We are interested in the opportunity to create a government of professionals who will think not about (their own and party) ratings, but about the tasks for which they were hired," Sadovy said.

"Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk called me after the elections. Subsequently, I personally met with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at his invitation. When asked whether Samopomich could join the coalition, I said that such a decision would be taken jointly by the future faction and the leadership of the party, based on the abovementioned principles," he said.
