Almost 2,500 foreign observers to watch Ukrainian elections – CEC

The Ukrainian Central Elections Commission has finished the registration of election observers from foreign states and international organizations to monitor the October 26 parliamentary elections.

The total number of observers stands at 2,321, including 304 representing 21 foreign states and 2,017 from 20 international organizations, the commission press service reported on Tuesday.

During its meeting on October 20, the Central Elections Commission registered 494 official observers, among them 19 from Poland, 19 from Hungary, 16 from Lithuania, four from the United Kingdom, four from Kazakhstan, three from Turkey, one from the Netherlands, 47 from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, 188 from the Ukrainian World Congress, 99 from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, 43 from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, 28 from the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, ten from the Canadian Election Observation Mission (CANEOM), eight from the Committee for Open Democracy, four from the European Prospect and Security Institute and one from the International Republican Institute.
