Rada should approve demarcation line in eastern Ukraine – Poroshenko

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the line of the deployment of Ukrainian troops is currently different from that laid down in the Minsk memorandum, and that the demarcation line should be approved by the Ukrainian parliament.

"I can tell you that the line of the current deployment of our troops and the line, which was basically agreed in the Minsk memorandum and which should be presented in parliament, differ in the Ukrainian favor," the president said in an interview with Ukrainian TV channels on October 18.

At the same time, the president stressed that "in the law that I signed the day before yesterday, it is clearly stated that the demarcation line should be approved by the parliament. And there can be no behind-the-scenes agreements."

In addition, Poroshenko noted that any deviation from Minsk agreements regarding the demarcation line is unacceptable.
