Ukrainian government reshuffles health ministry heads

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers on October 1, 2014, issue resolution No. 887-r to suspend Oleh Musiy as incumbent Health Minister of Ukraine.

The Cabinet also issued resolution No. 888-r to dismiss First Deputy Health Minister Ruslan Saliutin and resolution No. 889-r to commission Deputy Health Minister Vasyl Lazoryshynets to work as acting health minister.

The reshuffles in the Health Ministry are connected with Musiy's and Saliutin's failure to ensure tender procurements for required medicines.

Musiy later said that the causes behind his suspension were not objective.

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on July 31, 2014, expressed confidence in the health minister and did not support a draft resolution on the dismissal of Oleh Musiy as Ukraine's health minister, authored by Batkivschyna faction deputy Roman Stadniychuk and independent MP Anzhelika Labunska.

Musiy said then that attempts to dismiss him were connected with the situation around the Indar plant and the revelation of corrupt schemes in state procurement.
