Belarus offered West peace plan for Ukraine - Lukashenko

Minsk proposed the West a peace plan for resolving the Ukrainian conflict, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with Euronews, his press office told Interfax on Wednesday.

"When this conflict was an embryo, certain Western politicians asked me: how do you see the situation in Ukraine, what should be done to stop the war. Of course, I did not want any discussion on this topic, understanding that this won't give any result, but nevertheless I told them that I have my vision and proposals to normalize the situation in Ukraine. Fully normalize, without ending up with a war," Lukashenko said.

"So we proposed this plan to the West, without specifics at this stage, certain that it will not lead to the West agreeing to this plan," he said.

"Moreover, I promised that in the event of the Belarusian proposals being implemented, the situation in Ukraine will normalize and there will be no war. The West has not agreed with this plan. Which means it suits someone that way," Lukashenko said.
