Poroshenko sure Ukraine now needs peace the most

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said at a meeting with the leadership of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and the Ukrainian World Congress that the Ukrainian authorities attach priority significance to the development of relations with the Ukrainian diaspora, the press service of the head of state has reported.

Poroshenko noted a very active position of the Ukrainian community in Canada, in particular, in support of the European integration aspirations of the state and the spread of true information about events in Ukraine.

President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress Paul Grod, in turn, said that "the Canadians not only support the spirit, but are also actively working to support the Ukrainians today."

"In particular, the Canadian diaspora is actively working with the NATO countries to convey the need to support Ukraine," reads the statement.

According to Poroshenko, today Ukraine needs peace the most.

"We will receive peace when we are strong. For this purpose we need global support and assistance," he said.

The meeting participants also exchanged views on how to enhance cooperation with Ukrainian public organizations abroad in order to ensure the stable political and economic development of Ukraine and provide the country with the necessary international support and assistance.
