The Verkhovna Rada at a closed meeting on Tuesday adopted a presidential law on the introduction of a special order of government in some districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions for a period of three years, as well as on the holding of early local elections in these regions on December 7 this year.

Some MPs reported on social networks that 277 MPs voted for the adoption of the bill.

Svoboda faction leader Oleh Tiahnybok said that Svoboda was the only faction that "did not give a single vote for the special regime."

Batkivschyna faction deputy Andriy Shevchenko, in turn, wrote on Twitter: "In a secret mode Poroshenko and Turchynov pushed through the laws on special status (277)."
