Austria to give ten drones to OSCE mission to monitor situation in east Ukraine

Austria is ready to provide ten unmanned aerial vehicles to the OSCE special monitoring mission, which is monitoring the situation in eastern Ukraine, the press service of the Ukrainian president has reported.

According to the report, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz discussed the situation in Ukraine on Monday.

"The Austrian foreign minister expressed support for Ukraine from the EU and his country, and also said that Austria is ready to significantly increase its efforts within the OSCE and provide drones to the OSCE to monitor the situation in Ukraine's areas bordering Russia," reads the report.

Kurz said during the discussion: "Our mission is not only to support a peaceful settlement through the provision of Austrian observers as part of the OSCE, but also provide ten Austrian drones to the OSCE mission that will help monitor the conflict territories to speed up the peaceful settlement process."

In addition, he said, Austria will increase its assistance in providing health care and medicines to seriously wounded civilians in Ukraine's eastern regions.
