Ukraine plans to become NATO special partner this year

1 min read

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is hoping to receive special partner status and become a key ally of NATO before the end of this year.

This goal is stated in the Cabinet of Ministers' action plan entitled "Rebuilding the Country" in the section "Overcoming Russian Aggression," which was posted on the Ukrainian government Web site on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian government is also hoping to receive military-technical assistance from the G7, the European Union, and NATO before the end of this year.

The plan also foresees the completion within six months of the Wall project: "the construction and development of a reliable reinforced border between Ukraine and Russia."

The Cabinet of Ministers hopes that a government bill canceling Ukraine's non-aligned status and resuming the course towards Euro-Atlantic integration will be adopted in September 2014.

The plan also foresees that the participating countries of the Budapest Memorandum will provide practical assistance to ensure Ukraine's security by the end of September.
