Poroshenko hopes for intensive dialogue in Minsk on Aug 26

Ukrainian President Poroshenko hopes that the dialogue during a meeting in Minsk on August 26 will be intense and the major issue on its agenda will be peace.

"The intensity of the dialogue will be very high," he president when meeting Lithuania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius, the presidential press service said.

Peace will be the major issue on the agenda, he said.

"The Ukrainian people and myself stand firm on the fact that Ukraine's peace plan must be put into action," Poroshenko said.

Poroshenko thanked Lithuania for its support of Ukraine, in particular, financial, to rebuild the Donbas. He also mentioned the EU's plans to provide Ukraine with macrofinance assistance.

"Lithuania has a place in the hearts of most of Ukrainians," he said. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite's greetings on the Independence Day of Ukraine, which were given in the Ukrainian language, were received by Ukrainians with genuine gratitude, he said.

Linkevicius in turn said that Lithuania would continue to provide Ukraine with "political and moral" support. In particular, it is planning to send an aircraft with humanitarian aid to Ukraine soon.
