Kyiv says Ukraine army preparing offensive on Shakhtarsk, Torez and Snizhne

Ukrainian troops are preparing to simultaneously launch an offensive from several directions across the area of the anti-terrorist operation in the country's eastern regions, Kyiv-based Information Resistance group coordinator Dmytro Tymchuk said on his Facebook account on Tuesday.

"Armed clashes have been registered near the cities of Donetsk, Luhansk, Horlivka, Pervomaisk and Ilovaisk," he said.

"Measures have been taken to prepare for further operations in the Shakhtarsk-Torez-Snizhne-Krasny Luch direction. Simultaneously, aviation and artillery forces neutralized some groups of terrorists who were heading to the cities of Shakhtarsk, Torez and Snizhne to reinforce the militants active there. Several groups of militants arrived in these districts and set up their defense there," Tymchuk said.

Ukrainian soldiers have taken control of a part of a road linking Horlivka and Yasynuvata in the Donetsk region, cutting militiamen in Horlivka from the militia forces of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" (DPR).

The Ukrainian army is also carrying out raids on the territory controlled by the militants.

"The density of militant forces and means in the rear areas is low - all main forces and weapons of DPR and LPR [Luhansk People's Republic] have been redeployed to the frontline," Tymchuk said.

According to earlier reports, the Ukrainian army launched more artillery strikes against Donetsk at around 2200 on August 11.

"The preliminary information available indicates that targets in the Kyivsky district [of Donetsk] have been hit. The report has not been confirmed so far," a militia spokesman told Interfax.

All militant units have been put on high alert. The sirens of emergency vehicles can be heard in the city.

There have been no reports on casualties and injuries.
