OSCE mission hopes intl experts can work safely on crash site for 2-3 weeks

Ertugrul Apakan, chief monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, said he is hoping that international experts can work safely at the Malaysian plane crash site in the Donetsk region.

Apakan told a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday he is hoping the OSCE experts can visit the crash site daily to work on the investigation in the course of the next 2-3 weeks.

He could not comment on the information that Russian experts are also on their way to the crash site and whether the international experts will work together with their Russian colleagues.

Apakan said teams from the Netherlands and Australia have worked there and a Malaysian delegation has contacted the OSCE mission and wants to be there as soon as possible.

He also reiterated that there is a need to guarantee the experts' safety during their journey to the crash site and ensure that no military action is conducted during their work.
