Cabinet plans to cut number of inspectorates, supervision agencies in Ukraine by at least four times, says official

The Ukrainian government plans to reduce the number of inspectorates, supervision agencies and departments of ministries from 80 to 20 as a part of the reduction of expenses of the national budget on maintenance of central executive power agencies.

The Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Ministry of Ukraine has reported that Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister Volodymyr Hroisman announced the plans at a meeting with representatives of ministries and supervision agencies held on July 30.

"We'll optimize the number of inspectorates by four times, the number of public servants and the financing will be cut," reads the report, citing Hroisman.

According to the report, today, expenses on the national budget on maintenance of inspectorates and supervision agencies amount to over UAH 24 billion a year, and due to bribes almost UAH 100 billion is brought into shadows every year, according to various estimates.

"The pressure on business slows the economic development and brings to the dilution of funds from the state economy. We should liquidate this shadow segment," Hroisman said.

He also said that earlier Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk ordered to cut expenses on maintenance of central executive power agencies by 70%.
