Ukrainian National Security Defense Council denies firing ballistic missiles at militants

The Ukrainian army does not use ballistic missiles during the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian National Security Defense Council information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said.

"The Ukrainian armed forces do not use ballistic missiles. They have enough less powerful arms, which are used effectively when freeing eastern regions of Ukraine from terrorists," Lysenko told Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday when commenting on the information reported by CNN TV channel on July 29.

CNN reported on July 29 citing unnamed source in the U.S. special services that in the past two days Ukrainian troops allegedly used small-range ballistic missiles against militants in eastern Ukraine. According to the information of the TV channel, it concerns missiles equipped with 454-kg warheads with a range of 89 km.

At the same time, Washington does not posses information for now as to how many missiles were launched, what they struck and what damaged they inflicted.
