Criminal case opened under Article 'premeditated murder' due to murder of Kremenchuk mayor Babayev

The police has opened a criminal cases under Article ''premeditated murder" due to murder of Kremenchuk mayor Oleh Babayev early Saturday morning.

"Criminal case under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ('premeditated murder) has been opened," the press service of the Poltava regional department of the Interior Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

The head of the public relations center of the Poltava regional department of the Interior Ministry Yuriy Sulayev wrote on his Facebook page that around 1000 in the morning in Sumska Street of Avtozavodsky District of Kremenchuk town, Poltava region, not far from dwelling, the mayor was breast-shot.

Sulayev said that the investigation group of the Interior Ministry is working on the site. Heads of law-enforcement agencies of the region arrived to the site.

The Ukrainian interior minister's advisor Anton Heraschenko, wrote on his Facebook page that the Sirena interception plan was announced in Poltava and neighbor regions due to the murder of Babayev. He wrote that Babayev wore his tracksuit, took a package with garbage and went from his house on Mersedes S 500 car, forgetting mobile phones at home.

"According to witnesses, later he stopped whether to throw garbage or because he was blocked by a car of murders or due to other reason. VAZ 2108 car of white color stopped near his car and three shots were made. Oleh Babayev died at the scene," he wrote.
