Over 3,000 citizens return to liberated regions of eastern Ukraine using trains of Pivdenna railways

After restoration work local residents who had to leave their houses are returning to settlements liberated from anti-government militants: from July 9 to July 14, 3,100 people used electric train No. 6289 Kharkiv-Pasazhyrsky-Lozova-Sloviansk to return to Sloviansk.

"Railway workers of Pivdenna railways provide support to residents of eastern regions of Ukraine on the territory of which the counterterrorist operation is being conducted. From July 7, passengers are being transported on the Kharkiv-Svatove-Kyiv route. Over nine days, 457 people left the territory where the counterterrorist operation is being conducted using train pair No. 525/526 Kharkiv-Svatove-Kharkiv formed by Pivdenna railways," reads a press release of Pivdenna railways.

From July 8, 2014, the daily service of a suburban train to Sloviansk station has been resumed.

From May 30 to July 14, 2014, 1,589 people from Donetsk and Luhansk regions received temporary shelter at Pivdenna railways. Pivdenna railways has organized free accommodation at rooms of mothers and children at all stations of the railways and at the hotels belonged to the railways for mothers and children.

"Citizens who had to leave the territory where the counterterrorist operation is being conducted have a possibility of staying in the above-mentioned places from several hours to several days. The largest number of displaced residents was serviced by Kharkiv-Pasazhyrsky station and Express Hotel – 1,409 people," Pivdenna railways said.
