Poroshenko says Ukraine ready to hold consultations with Russia, EU on July 11 on implementation of association agreement

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt on Tuesday and discussed further steps to implement the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the press service of the head of state has reported.

Poroshenko thanked Bildt for his efforts to provide international backing for Ukraine, in particular, over the course of preparing the EU association agreement for signing, reads the report.

"You made considerable efforts towards our European progress, our security," he said.

At the meeting the president also reaffirmed Ukraine's intention to hold consultations, as agreed, on July 11 with representatives from the EU, Ukraine and Russia over the economic aspects of the implementation of the agreement.

"Our position on the essence of the agreement is clear: it cannot be discussed. But we can discuss its stages, primarily, as far as standardization is concerned," Poroshenko said.

The parties agreed to closely coordinate their further efforts on Ukraine's European integration and to stabilize the situation in Donbas, the press office said.
