Ukrainian lawmakers won't go on summer holiday

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has voted to work without a parliamentary recess this summer.

A total of 288 MPs voted for this decision on Tuesday.

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov said that the current 4th session of the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th convocation will close on September 2, the day of the opening of the 5th session.

The MPs decided that they would definitely hold plenary meetings on July 22-25 and August 12-16.

The speaker will decide on whether to hold plenary meetings at other times.

As reported, the parliament decided that its 5th session would start its work on September 1 with a meeting of the conciliatory council. The opening session will be held on September 2.

The 5th session of parliament ends on January 16, 2015.
