Avakov says force may be used against activists picketing State Border Service's administration

Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov has said that if the activists of Maidan don't release the administration building of the State Border Guard Service in Kyiv in the shortest terms, the police will do it with its own forces.

"I give a small piece of time for people, who emotionally came to demand to settle their emotional problems, to come to their senses and to get down to their business. Otherwise, the Interior Ministry will release the building by force, arrest [the protesters] and appeal to the courts demanding relative sanctions," he told journalists in Kyiv on Thursday.

The minister said that it is an outrage to block the structures that deal with defense of the state border and operate the counter-terrorist forces adding that such actions of the activists are criminal. "Any person, who in the military times block the structures, which fight against enemies, would be qualified as a criminal," the minister said.

Border guards participate in the counter-terrorist operation equally with the Ukrainian security officers, the minister said.

As reported, on Thursday morning about 150 Maidan self-defense activists started a rally outside the main building of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine at Zolotovoritska Street in Kyiv.
