The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for the Development of Ukraine has evacuated about 1,400 people from Donetsk region, most of them children, SCM communications director Natalia Yemchenko has said.

"Here is an interim report on the progress of evacuation from the cities of Donetsk region. We [The Foundation for the Development of Ukraine] have evacuated some 1,400 people - most of them are children. The main focus of the foundation is the cities of Donetsk region, in which the situation is most complicated, the key priority is children and families with children," she wrote on her Facebook page.

Yemchenko noted that it was planned on June 3 to evacuate another 200 people, including those from Sloviansk.

"But in Sloviansk the fight density is such that we won't be able to take anybody. Generally, every day it is becomes more difficult to physically evacuate people from Sloviansk – gunmen in the city are doing everything to keep as many people as possible, in particular they are intimidating drivers. The day before yesterday they seized one of the drivers, involved in the evacuation, and according to our information he is in the SBU office of Sloviansk. We are trying to free him," she said.
