Turchynov signs law to improve anti-corruption policy for visa liberalization with EU

Ukraine's acting president, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov, has signed a law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine on the state anti-corruption policy to implement the action plan to simplify visa regime with the EU.

The presidential press service reported this on Monday.

On May 13, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted amendments to the legislation on government anti-corruption policy in order to implement the first phase of the action plan to simplify the visa regime for Ukraine with the EU.

The aim of the law is to comply with the recommendations of experts of the European Commission to improve the provisions of anti-corruption legislation, which were made as part of the talks on the relaxation of visa requirements for Ukrainians by the EU.

The law introduces amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine to fulfill the recommendation of the European experts on ensuring special confiscation when dealing with the predicate offences.
