Illegal armed formations are bombarding residential houses in the town of Sloviansk of Donetsk region with a Nona artillery cannon, official representative of the special counter-terror operation in the East Vladyslav Selezniov has said.

"The freshest information I want to report is that now Sloviansk residential areas are being fired on. The militants are using a Nona self-propelled artillery unit," he said in a telephone briefing on Friday.

He noted that several days ago the Ukrainian military had damaged this unit.

But, since its tracks were damaged, the militants "put it on an automobile trailer and using it they are moving it around the town, setting up combat positions on the territory of residential quarters," the representative of the counter-terror operation said.

Selezniov said that the armed formations are firing at Ukrainian forces both on Karachun Mountain, as well as in residential areas. One of the shells hit a hospital.

Besides, the representative of the operation said that the Ukrainian servicemen are not shooting in the direction of residential buildings and civilians, and denied allegations by the militants that the Ukrainian army is bombarding residential areas.
