Yatseniuk calls Ukrainians to make choice at May 25 elections according to beliefs and conscience

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has addressed Ukrainians on the eve of early presidential elections, calling them to make choice according to beliefs and conscience.

"Your vote won't be stolen. It's only you who can make use of it. Make your choice according to your beliefs and conscience. This is the expression of the will of Ukrainians in the west, the east, the north and the south, this will be a fair and unhindered choice," he said in the address to the nation, posted on the government's official Web site on Saturday.

"We'll go to the election polls on May 25. These will be the election of our president, [voting] for freedom, prosperity and the European future that Ukrainians are paying the highest price – the price of their own life. That is why the choice that we will make on Sunday is of more importance, and the responsibility of each of us is of a greater extent. Tomorrow we'll show the world and mostly ourselves that we can't be intimidated, it's only up to us how we should build our home and manage it," the address said.

Yatseniuk said that it wasn't easy to prepare and conduct the elections when "huge financial, political and military resources are being involved to make them fail, when the industry of perverted propaganda is working to discredit them."

"But we deserve these elections because we are protecting our land, were re-build the Ukrainian army, restore the destroyed economy, eliminating the schemes that washed billions of money out of the country, and we learn to control authorities and are now laying the grounds for further development. We've broken the things that prevented fair and transparent self-determination of voters. We have jointly done everything to clear this process of bribery and frauds. We did not let gangsters who are sponsored from abroad and foreign mercenaries disrupt the election. We provided full financial and legislative support for it," the premier said.

He noted that in the past three months, the government's efforts were aimed at "reinforcing people's dignity and confidence that everything depends on them."

"I'd like to ensure those of our compatriots in Donetsk and Luhansk regions who cannot go to the polls because of the war waged against Ukraine: terror committed by bandits in your region will end soon," he said.
